Why Peelclear Quotes Vary—and What to Compare Before You Choose
October 31, 2026 · 6 min read
Peelclear cost varies because the work behind two quotes can be very different. Coverage, vehicle shape, clear protection versus a color change, finish, paint condition, preparation, labor, location, and added services all affect scope. Before approving a proposal, get the covered panels and preparation in writing, then review warranty eligibility and exclusions alongside the price.
Compare the covered panels before the total
If one Peelclear quote is much lower than another, do not assume the lower number is a better deal or that the higher number is inflated. First find out what each shop is actually applying. A driver who wants to protect a bumper and hood has a different project from someone who wants the full exterior, door jambs, trunk jambs, and gas lid included.
Peelclear currently uses Bronze for the front bumper, hood, and front fenders; Silver for the full exterior; and Gold for the full exterior plus door and trunk jambs and the gas lid. Those are manufacturer package examples, not a promise that every proposal has the same boundaries. Ask the shop to name the painted panels and clarify what happens at edges, around mirrors and badges, and in tight trim areas. If those details are missing, you are not comparing like for like.
The manufacturer says full-vehicle installations generally range from $3,000 to $9,000 and identifies the vehicle, location, shop labor, color, finish, preparation, selected package, and additional services as price variables. Use that only as a broad manufacturer reference. It is not a Bravada price list or a prediction of what your vehicle will cost. A useful quote starts with the vehicle and the written scope.
Clear protection and a color change are different projects
Peelclear is a spray-applied peelable paint protection system that can be planned as clear protection or as a color and finish change. The manufacturer lists clear protection, solid colors, pearl effects, Ultra Shift effects, and color matching, along with gloss, satin, and matte finish directions. A clear gloss application and a matte color-change project should not be expected to carry the same preparation, material, or labor scope.
Have the proposal identify the selected color or effect and the finish direction rather than relying on the word "Peelclear" alone. There is no universal surcharge schedule that applies to every vehicle. Availability, coverage, and the details of the selected project need to be confirmed before the scope is approved.
Paint condition can change the preparation—and the recommendation
A rock-chipped bumper, a repainted fender, lifting clear coat, and an older repair with an unknown paint history do not present the same starting point. Peelclear’s warranty information says results involving the underlying surface can depend on OEM paint condition, repaint history, prior repairs, preparation, maintenance, removal procedures, and the substrate. During an in-person look, a panel may need more preparation, merit a separate paint-repair conversation, or have limits on warranty eligibility.
This matters most when you want the original finish visible again later. Peelclear describes removal as designed for sound, properly prepared surfaces using approved methods, while its warranty does not cover the condition or long-term performance of the paint underneath. Tell us about resprayed panels, collision work, lifting areas, or anything you know about the vehicle's paint history before the price is finalized.
Choose Peelclear, PPF, or ceramic coating for the job you have
Traditional paint protection film (PPF) is an adhesive film applied to selected panels or a vehicle. Peelclear is spray-applied peelable paint. If your priority is physical protection on exposed panels, PPF is a strong option to discuss; on complex shapes, it can involve visible coverage boundaries or relief cuts, and film edges may need attention over time. The materials, application methods, edge treatment, coverage boundaries, and warranty terms are different, so a PPF quote and a Peelclear quote are not interchangeable line items.
Peelclear is worth comparing when you want clear protection, a color or finish change, or coverage on a bumper or sharply styled panel where traditional film edges are a concern. It is not a reason to skip the conversation about existing paint condition, selected system documentation, or warranty terms.
Ceramic coating belongs in a separate finish-care conversation. After proper preparation, it can improve gloss and water behavior and may make routine washing easier. It does not stop a rock strike or replace impact protection, and it does not eliminate regular washing. If you are deciding among these options, the right comparison is the outcome you want, the panels you want addressed, and the care you are prepared to give the vehicle—not one product name against another.
Get the scope and warranty terms in writing
Before you authorize work, the proposal should identify the vehicle and covered panels; whether door or trunk jambs, the gas lid, trim, and badges are included; clear protection or the selected color or effect; gloss, satin, or matte direction; paint-condition notes; planned preparation; application and cure expectations; exclusions; and the findings that could change the price. California’s Bureau of Automotive Repair advises consumers to obtain an estimate and authorize work before it begins. Its repair guidance does not set Peelclear prices or prescribe a cosmetic-service package.
Put warranty wording beside the scope rather than treating it as a separate selling point. Bravada is a Certified Peelclear Installer, and eligible installations using approved materials and procedures may qualify for Peelclear’s 20-Year Limited Warranty for qualifying product defects. The manufacturer’s written terms set the requirements and exclusions. They do not guarantee the condition or long-term performance of underlying paint, every rock chip or scratch, workmanship, or every removal result. Read the current terms with your proposal when warranty eligibility affects your decision.
Bring the vehicle in when the quote still has vague lines
Photos of a chip, repaired panel, or the color direction you have in mind are helpful, but the real decision point is the vehicle itself. At a Bravada consultation in Yorba Linda, we will look at the visible paint condition and the areas you want covered, identify what still needs confirmation, and discuss whether clear Peelclear protection, a color or finish change, traditional PPF, or a ceramic-coating conversation best fits the goal. We will also explain the coverage boundaries, preparation, and warranty questions that affect the proposal.
Ask for a written scope before you hand over the keys. When the panels, preparation, finish, exclusions, and possible price changes are clear, you can decide whether the quote fits the work you actually want.
